Why Recorded Music Matters

During the rise and fall of the music industry many things changed. New styles were discovered, and new sounds were created, and with this evolution, came recorded music. I found interest in this topic, as I am a music enthusiast. If you think about music now, and what a big impact the music industry has on people, then you could easily see why recorded music is so amazing. 

Music often communicated beliefs, emotions, stories, and educational lyrics, and without the development of music, things could not be shared as far and wide as they have been. Taking the 21st century into consideration, a lot of people find international singers to be entertaining, especially Korean singers like BTS (방탄소년단) or CL. The impact BTS has had on American fans is astonishing, and without the chance to have their music recorded, they wouldn't share their music internationally, or to people who didn't live close to them. 

The fact that recorded music has had such an impact in American history also amazes me. My generation can go back and listen to songs by the Beatles, or by Elle Fitzgerald, and without recordings of them, the music industry would be broken, in fact, it be just another small hobby. Musicians, singers, rappers, and producers are constantly changing new trends nowadays, and without the constant change of music development, the world would be quiet. And boring. And that's why it's so important to see how far music has come, from inconsistent, improvisation, live performances, to Ed Sheeran having almost 31 million Spotify followers alone. 

Even though I personally take recorded music for granted quite often, I understood more about the importance of it after listening to this talk. Artists in the music industry and creating their own masterpieces that can luckily be shared with so many people that can be inspired by their work.

Response to Demassification  By Piper Shiflet Demassification was a word I had never heard of until our recent discussion about the topic in class. We had covered mass communication in pervious weeks, but demassification was a new concept. The thought originally stuck in my head that demassification meant losing your mass audience in some way, but it wasn't, it was how you deal with losing your mass audience. I had to think about this for a long time, how exactly would I deal with losing a mass audience?  During this situation you would have to figure out how to gain your audience back, and this is seen everywhere, especially in social media, which I had realized as the definition was being told to me. My Response To LaNasia's: A Class Discussion! LaNasia typed an article discussing wha we had talked about recently in class, regarding not only the synagog shooting, but also the Kroger shooting. When I read over her blog, I noticed that she spoke about how we allow criminals mercy just because they have a mental illness. I had been talking about this situation a while back when the school shooting regarding Nikolas Cruz occurred. I noticed that many people who decide to shoot up local destinations, or commit hate crimes in general, usually show signs of having a mental illness or issue.
